I’m Zach β designer, dad, digital tinkerer, and the kind of guy who still remembers the sound of AOL dial-up like it was yesterday.
What started as a personal playground for my ideas has grown into something much bigger: a space for real conversations, shared wisdom, and unapologetic curiosity. I’ve built brands from scratch, survived storms most people never see coming, raised a son through health battles that put everything in perspective, and traveled the world with a journal in my bag and a fire in my gut that never quite goes out.
I Build Systems, Not Shortcuts
My roots are in the 559, Central Valley California β Hanford, to be specific β and that grounded, no-nonsense work ethic shows up in everything I create. I started where a lot of designers started: slicing layouts in Photoshop, cobbling together HTML from forum snippets, learning by breaking things. That hands-on curiosity never left. It just evolved.
Today I operate under 559 Digital, a holding company for a growing network of interconnected web properties, tools, and local digital infrastructure I’ve spent over 15 years building toward. The flagship is the 559 Network β a locally-owned alternative to platforms like Craigslist, built specifically to serve the Central Valley across classifieds, business directories, housing, automotive, food, and community pages. It’s the kind of project that takes years to build right, and I’m building it right.
When I’m not architecting multisite WordPress networks or digging into domain strategy, I’m building plugins β real ones, with REST APIs, Stripe integration, and database schemas I designed from the ground up. My son’s involvement in youth baseball led directly to **Scoreboard.ing**, a digital sponsorship platform that gives local businesses trackable analytics and youth programs a new fundraising model. That’s the kind of thing that happens when you’re a builder and a dad at the same time: problems become products.
Design Is More Than Visual
I believe design isn’t just visual β it’s emotional, spiritual, and legacy-driven. I teach clients to invest in their identity, not just their logo. My background spans darkroom photography, early Photoshop, front-end development, affiliate marketing, and now full-stack WordPress development. I’m not chasing a title. I’m connecting dots.

I’ve run successful affiliate sites across survival, camping, and outdoor niches. I’ve done deep GIS analysis of High-Speed Rail corridors to identify real estate and digital infrastructure opportunities in my own backyard. I’ve built bookmarklet plugins, custom classification systems, lead generation sequences, and theme frameworks with newspaper-inspired design systems. I research dividend stocks the same way I research WordPress hooks β methodically, with the long game in mind.
What This Site Is
ZachWheat.com is where I unpack the lessons, the stories, and the tools that shaped me. From tech and survival to fatherhood and faith, this is a place for grown conversations and unexpected breakthroughs. I share what I’m actually building β not polished case studies, but real process, real problems, and real solutions.
If you’re a developer trying to grow, a designer trying to go deeper, a dad trying to build something meaningful between school pickups, or someone from the Central Valley who believes this region deserves better digital infrastructure β you’re going to find something here worth reading.
I don’t do fluff. I don’t chase trends. I build things that last.
Whether you’re here to learn, vent, build, or just lurk β welcome. You’re in good company.
