House Rules

This forum is a place to swap ideas, ask questions, and help each other out. It stays that way because of a few simple rules. Break them and your posts come down. Keep breaking them and your account does too.

1. Be respectful

Disagree all you want. Argue the idea, not the person. No insults, name-calling, threats, or piling on. Treat people the way you’d want to be treated across a table from them.

2. Keep the cussing at sea

We’re all adults, but this is a public forum anyone can read. Keep the language clean enough that you’d be fine with your kid or your boss reading it. A slip here and there won’t get you banned; a habit will.

3. Share resources, and give credit

Links, guides, tools, and how-tos are what make this place useful. Share them. If it isn’t yours, say where it came from and link to the original. Don’t copy someone else’s work word for word.

4. Original posts are the gold standard

Your own experience, your own photos, your own project write-up: that’s the good stuff. The best original posts get pinned or featured. Lazy reposts and “look at this” links with no context don’t.

5. No spam, no surprise selling

No ads, sales pitches, or links to your own stuff unless you ask me first. If a link earns you money (an affiliate link), say so in the post. Members who show up only to promote won’t stay members.

6. Post in the right board, and look first

Use the board that fits your topic, and search to see if it’s already been covered. If it has, add to that conversation instead of starting a new one.

7. Protect privacy, yours and everyone else’s

Don’t post anyone’s personal information: real names they haven’t shared, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or photos of them without their OK. Think twice before sharing your own.

8. Keep it legal

Nothing illegal, pirated, or dangerous. No help with anything that could get someone hurt.

How moderation works
Your first post waits for approval. After that, you post freely.
I can edit, move, lock, or remove any post, and suspend or remove any account, at my discretion. Most of the time you’ll get a heads-up first. Sometimes you won’t.See something that breaks the rules? Don’t fight it in the thread. Let me know through the contact page and I’ll handle it.

These rules may change as the forum grows. By posting, you agree to the current version.
